I started working right around the time many people were getting laid off. Even though I was aiming at a stable 9 to 5 job, I settled for shifts. With the shaky economy, it seemed better than nothing.
In those days, going on leave to see a doctor for being assaulted would cost anyone. I opted to buy pepper spray for self defense & protection as my shift times were lousy. I started before midnight yet the job concluded in the wee hours.
I had a beat-up car but the price of gas was atrocious, so I took the bus or the subway sometimes. Either way, I would be too exhausted from work and vulnerable to being victimized.
My hunch was dead on. I would come up against danger on the way to work. I got lucky it happened after my move to buy pepper spray for self defense & protection or I would have been powerless.
Considering there were all of two vehicles out there, we were certainly too near each other. I sped up but it ran into mine that I pulled up feeling irked. I saw a couple of guys emerge, brandishing knives.
I pulled back while scrabbling around for the car door, astonished with my timing for choosing to buy pepper spray for self defense & protection. Evidently, a robbery was unfolding before me.
My pepper spray was just there, reachable. The robbers were drawing nearer when my hand settled on the bottle it needed. I grabbed the defense device and sprayed with all my might. Both perpetrators screeched in pain.
It dawned on me this was a regular job and these criminals were prepped. I could have been killed were it not that I decided to buy pepper spray for self defense & protection. Thankful, I made a run for my vehicle and out of there.
